How to Install Your Australian Performance Boxes Underbody Boxes
Our range of Underbody Boxes are engineered for superior performance and are the perfect addition for those who want to add extra storage space beneath their tray.
Please Note: Australian Performance Boxes does not offer an installation service or the M10 mounting bolts and nuts to fit the Underbody Boxes and will need to be purchased separately. This kit is designed for DIY installation. Please read the instructions carefully, or consult a professional if you’re unsure.
Important Information:
- Please ensure you have suitable bolts, washers, and nuts for your tray and installation preferences. We recommend using 4 x M10 bolts with a large plate washer.
- Selecting the correct box: To determine the appropriate box size, you’ll need to measure from the centre of your rear tyre to the back of the tailboard (tray end). Use this measurement to select an underbody box length that fits your available space, avoiding interference from the wheel and ensuring the box fits neatly without obstruction.
- Double Tapered Underbody Boxes will require a minimum of 15mm - 20mm clearance from the wheel guard to prevent the door from rubbing when opening.
- Please note on Toyota LandCruisers, the standard Underbody Boxes may foul on the exhaust system and will require modification after purchase to ensure proper fitment.

Installation Instructions
1. Position the Underbody Box:
Hold the box in place beneath the tray, to check for clearance at both the wheel and tray edge. Adjust as needed for the best access, ensuring the box and its door will operate without obstruction.
2. Mark and Drill Mounting Holes:
Measure and mark out four hole positions on your tray and also the Underbody Toolboxes. Remove the box and drill holes at each marked spot.
3. Apply Sealant:
Apply adhesive sealant around the hole on the inside of the toolbox prior to installing the bolt and washer.
4. Attach and Secure:
Reposition the box and insert a washer and bolt through each hole. From the tray underside, add a washer and nyloc nut to each bolt. Hand-tighten all bolts, then check final alignment and door operation. Fully tighten all four bolts to firmly secure the box in place.
5. Final Check:
Double-check that the box is solidly mounted and does not move. Open and close the door to ensure smooth operation and adequate clearance, especially near wheel guards (Double Tapered boxes require 15-20mm gap). Inspect that no bolt heads or hardware interfere with cargo or tray use.
