How to Install Your Australian Performance Boxes Spare Wheel Carrier
Our Australian Performance Boxes Spare Wheel Carrier is the perfect solution for transporting your spare wheel securely and conveniently. This heavy-duty Spare Wheel Carrier is designed to securely hold your spare wheel on the back of your vehicle, freeing up valuable space.
Please Note: Australian Performance Boxes does not offer an installation service or the mounting bolts and nuts to fit this Spare Wheel Carrier and will need to be purchased separately. This kit is designed for DIY installation. Please read the instructions carefully, or consult a professional if you’re unsure.
What’s in the Kit?
• 1 x Wheel carrier bracket
• 1 x Wheel carrier plate
• 1 x Wheel centre disc
• 1 x Pad lockable full thread rod
Before You Start: Ensure this product is suitable for your spare tyre. Whether mounting in the centre or off-centre, you can apply the steps below. We always recommend mounting so that the weight of the tyre is supported by the tray.
1. Position, Mark & Drill:
Place your Spare Wheel Carrier and base plate in your desired position on the back of your vehicle (centre or off-centre). Ensure the carrier is square and aligned where you want it.
Mark your drilling points through the SHS (Square Hollow Section) framework on the back of the canopy for both the Carrier and base plate. Drill through the SHS framework at your marked spots.
2. Fit the Bolt Assembly:
For each hole, slide a washer onto an M10 bolt and through the Wheel Carrier bracket on the outer side of the Canopy and secure with an M10 Hex Nyloc Nut and tighten firmly. Repeat this step for the base plate.
3. Mount Your Spare Wheel:
Place the tyre over the bolted carrier so the central rod passes through the rim. Slide the securing disc over the tyre, onto the rod. Use the twist bolt to fix the disc and draw the wheel firmly toward the canopy or tray. This ensures a tight, stable fit.
4. Final Check:
Double-check all bolts and nuts. Ensure the entire assembly is tight and secure, and that the spare wheel is firmly held in place.
